ADB, a leading Set-Top-Box manufacturer, are collaborating with DigiSoft to have their MHP STBs enabled with DigiSoft’s zap tracking. ADB together with Digisoft, have solved operators’ problem when monitoring their customers viewing patterns. ADB STBs are shipped with the measurement components necessary for DigiHost’s zap tracking application. Operators can then use DigiHost’s reporting and profiling sub-systems to analyse the information received.
The zap tracking sub-system monitors audiences as they change channels and provides operators with valuable profiling information on TV viewing (and usage) habits. Operators can analyse TV usage across the day, see which channels are the most popular, see how long viewers spent on each particular channel and even see when audiences are starting interactive applications and what is the most popular features within those applications. Operators using Digisoft’s DigiHost system and ADB’s STBs can monitor iTV Application usage for the purposes of fine-tuning of services leading to better bandwidth optimization. This allows the effect of providing interactive services on reducing churn to be measured, allowing broadcasters to support their iTV ventures with hard facts and real customer data. This combined offering of Digisoft’s DigiHost and ADB's system solution represents a unique step in the deployment of measurable iTV commercial services based on Open Standards.
Anthony Smith-Chaigneau, Director of ADB Market Development commented on their co-operation with Digisoft saying, "The new functionality offered through our set-top boxes and the DigiHost software offers Operators a way to really get to know their market and technology impact in this new digital TV domain."
